Installation

Installation is very simple with no gluing or cutting required!

There are two common fittings used in swimming pool water returns, push in or screw on. Your kit comes with both types included.

1. PUSH IN FITTING

BasketShark kit includes

  • 1 x BasketShark
  • 1 x 90 degree jet nozzle
  • 1 x 90 degree connector
  • 1 x 15 degree connector
  • 1 x diverter fin
  • 2 x push in fittings
  • 2 x screw on fittings
  • 2 x fine mesh bags

Based on where you have decided to install your BasketShark.

1. Remove the return eyeball. Normally these are simply removed with a screwdriver. (Refer video above)

2. Insert the return line adapters and connect the 90 degree to the Baracuda pipe.

3. Attach the BasketShark to the other end of the hose - installation is complete.

2. SCREW ON FITTING

1. Remove the return eyeball by unscrewing the outer ring counter clockwise.  These can sometimes be quite tight,

2. Insert the eyeball adapters through the ring and screw the outer ring back to the wall fitting.

3. Attach the 90 degree connector to the eyeball adapter.

4. Attach the hose and the BasketShark to the other end - installation is complete.

The components are all pressure fitted, so gluing is not required. So for example, if the float does become dislodged, simply push it back on again.  It will not dislodge while in operation.

The pipe fittings are also pressure fitted.  If you find the water pressure is separating the pipe from the BasketShark, or pipe from the wall/pipe, a single wrap of electrical tape or a couple of wraps of plumbing tape will solve the problem.

Additional return jets. Depending on the number of return outlets and their position, additional 15 or 90 degree jets may be desirable to achieve the optimal results.  These can be purchased separately.

THE FIN

The fin has a very practical purpose. It acts to turn sticks end on end.  It also diverts the flow down either side of the hose.  Place the fin at a point before the hose breaks the surface.
